Holy Innocents

I have a small Walk With Me booklet of daily readings and prayers which I have been using since the start of Advent. This morning featured the story of Gordon Wilson whose daughter Marie was killed in the Enniskillen bombing in November 1987. An error in the booklet prompted me to look up the details and I found his story just as moving as it was at the time I first heard it. I cannot understand how today can be called a Feast by the Church. It seems too sad for that. It should be a day of mourning, a day of Atonement, the equivalent of Yom Kippur.

Gordon Wilson’s obituary can be found here http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/obituary-gordon-wilson-1588729.html
