Yellow Duck Marine

“We all live in a Yellow Submarine” sang the Beatles and if you go to Liverpool you cannot help noticing these Yellow Duck vehicles which take tourists round the streets and then into the dock for a spectacular tour of the City. The trip is great fun and if you lucky and have good weather there are plenty of opportunities to take photographs.

The Duck is an amphibious military vehicle which was designed to transport troops and equipment over land or water. The name ‘Duck’ came from attempts to pronounce their actual name which is DUKW, military notation which can be decoded as D for year in which it was designed, U for ‘utility’, K for ‘all wheel drive’ and W for ‘two powered rear axles’. They are now used in several places as Tourist vehicles, including Dublin and London.

When the Liverpool Duck went into the dock we were able to appreciate the beauty of the buildings there.

I think this looks almost like Venice.

And how about the quirky reflection in  this one?
